11. Avoid getting caught up in the medical system – Try and accept minor complaints

Try and understand the difference between inconvenience and impediment in your life. Health systems will not usually differentiate between these important differences. The system will begin its process of diagnosis and treatment and mostly leave it to you about how deeply or when it should be stopped, and along the way false positive results will further lead you and your provider astray.

As an example, you see someone for a “cold,” something that is completely self-limited considering that given a bit of time it will completely leave and you will be back to your usual baseline of health. However, you see a provider and some laboratory tests are ordered and the results are not exactly as expected, leading to more tests, etc.

Additionally, you are treated with something that causes some uncomfortable side effect perhaps leading to more treatment and further risks. Yes, it does depend on a certain level of self-knowledge of one’s own body baseline of health, hopefully recognized by your past experience.
